The Vice President of Ghana Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has visited some households in Accra to observe the installation of the unique address plates.
On Monday, April 12, 2021, the Vice President toured the Adenta Municipality where he inspected the phase one of works on the ongoing installation of unique address plates.
According to Dr. Bawumia whose government’s tenure is expected to come to an end on January 7, 2024, the unique plates are being installed on all 7.5 million houses and properties across Ghana.
He went from house to house during the visit to inspect the plates.
Dr. Bawumia seized the opportunity to interact with residents whose houses already have the plates installed on them.
According to Dr. Bawumia, the new addressing system, which leverages the existing GhanaPost GPS system, was made up of a unique house number, street name, digital address and a QR Code containing the address details of the property.
He indicated that the address plates are being embossed free of charge for all properties.
He said the address plates will provide a rich and unique database for all properties in the country which, combined with data from the Ghana Card, will inform policy formulation and implementation in our digitisation drive.
