Madhuri Dixit Nene is the numero uno of the Hindi film industry for many reasons – she’s a brilliant actor, a star performer and one of the most beautiful women to ever grace the silver screen. The actor has always been a vocal advocate of animal rights and regularly shares pictures and videos with her adopted indie dog whom she has named Carmelo Nene. This isn’t the first time that the Devdas actress has adopted a dog – her dog Riya who passed away, was also adopted.
“Abandoning a companion dog or cat is the cruellest thing to do. I’m happy we will be able to give this pup a new lease of life. I join PETA India in urging everyone who has the time, space, and resources to give a dog a lifetime of care to adopt from the street or a shelter instead of buying one,” Dixit had said at the time, sending out a powerful message. What’s even better is that Carmelo was adopted on their son, Arin’s birthday!
