Shops, schools, markets closed down in Nigeria’s Igbo land over Biafra leader’s detention

Several shops, markets and schools in Nigeria’s Igbo land are reportedly closed today due to a sit-at-home order from members of Nigeria’s Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Local media reports say there is no movement of persons and vehicles in many parts of Igbo land.

According to reports monitored by African Entertainment, members of IPOB  are patrolling some areas to ensure compliance with the sit-at-home order.

The order is in demand for the release of IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, reports say.
