A Guinean man has died from a new virus which the country has recorded.
Guinea recorded the Ebola-like Marburg after testing blood samples of the deceased in laboratories, local media reports say.
According to medical information, Marburg is a highly infectious disease.
Marburg is considered to be in the same category as the virus that causes the deadly Ebola virus.
African Entertainment understands that Marburg is transmitted to people from fruit bats and spreads between humans through the transmission of bodily fluids.
Considering the havoc Ebola posed to Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone between 2014 and 2015, the World Health Organization (WHO) has called for the Marburg virus to be “stopped in its tracks”.
African Entertainment has gathered that the last major outbreak of Marburg was in Angola in 2005.
Reports say the Marburg virus disease was identified in Guéckédou.
Guéckédou is the same region where recent Ebola cases were found in an outbreak which is now over.
