Keyshia Cole Says Final Farewell to Her Mother, Frankie Lons, and Releases Pictures and Videos from the Funeral

Keyshia Cole is saying one more final goodbye to her beloved mother, Frankie Lons.

The singer gave her fans a glimpse of her mother’s homegoing service, which took place in Oakland, California, at Greater St. John Missionary Baptist Church, with a Monday, August 16, Instagram post. The 10-slide post was a mixture of photos and videos, showing Cole and her family and friends releasing doves and purple and white balloons in Lons’ honor at her Aug. 15 funeral.

The carousel of posts included a short video of the obituary, a short video of her mother’s casket, a picture of Cole’s older son, Daniel Gibson Jr, and a couple of off-guard photos of Cole at the funeral. In the caption, she wrote, “We will miss you, I tried to spend as much time close to her as I could, in that church. When we got to the mausoleum, I asked if I could see her one last time💜 I kno her spirit was no longer there in the physical, I just hope she was able to see that we came together in celebration of her name, the laughs, love, and honesty she brought to this world…. I’ve internalized a lot as of recent. The love is real Frank Da 🏦.”

Cole lost her mother last month after she reportedly overdosed on drugs while celebrating her 61st birthday at her California home. The devastating news was sudden and heartbreaking for Cole, especially since Lons had battled addiction for years. The addiction had an effect on Lons’ relationship with Cole, which the world got to see in Cole’s reality TV series “Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is” and later in Lons’ spin-off television show called “Frankie & Neffe,” which featured Lons and her other daughter, Neffeteria Pugh.

Since learning the tragic news, Cole went on a small social media break; when she returned, she uploaded a few posts in memory of Lons. The 39-year-old has even opened up several times about how “hard” it’s been on her dealing with her mom’s death, always reminding her fans that Lons would “be missed.”
