The Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Nigeria, Usman Baba, has received the panel report on suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari’s alleged involvement in a $1.1m internet fraud with a notorious fraudster, Ramon Abbas popularly known as Hushpuppi.
Mr Kyari was suspended by the Nigerian Police Service Commission after he was indicted by the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) as being involved in a fraudulent deal with Hushpuppi who has pleaded guilty to charges leveled against him in the US.
The panel report was presented to the IGP by Deputy Inspector General of Police, Joseph Egbunike, on Thursday, August 26, 2021, African Entertainment understands.
No details of the report have been shared with the media, this portal has gathered.
It would be recalled that the Police Service Commission formed a panel to do an internal review of the allegations following the US indictment. Mr Kyari denies all the allegations.
The Deputy Inspector General of Police while presenting the report says the report outcome “of a painstaking, transparent and exhaustive investigative process”.
