Security forces arrest top Ugandan scholar on suspicion of espionage

A top Ugandan scholar, Lawrence Muganga, has been arrested by his country’s security forces.

Uganda’s Military spokeswoman, Brigadier Flavia Byekwaso, has reportedly indicated that reports that Muganga had been kidnapped were “false”.

According to Byekwaso, “He was arrested by joint security forces in connection with espionage and illegal stay in the country.”
