A 23-year-old woman, Ademeko Maclin-Carney is being charged for kidnapping a flooring store owner.
The woman worked at a flooring store and has allegedly had dealing with the flooring store owner in the past.
There is no saying if the two had a relationship or if it was a complaint issue. When the flooring owner was lured into the home at 1200 block of East William Street at 10:15 a.m. Thursday, the woman’s floors were evaluated.
According to reports the flooring owner had explained to her that the home was not in shape to support new flooring. Ademeko Maclin-Carney apparently not pleased. She then Maclin-Carney assaulted him with pepper spray.
Ademeko also had an accomplice with her. The male accomplice pointed a gun at the flooring owner.
Afterwards he was tied up with zip ties. The two then place a bag over the owner’s head. They took him to a vehicle where he was placed in a trunk.
Ademeko Maclin-Carney and her accomplice demanded $400,000 ransom for the flooring owner.
The flooring store owner was taken to two locations during his kidnapping. He managed to escape. He fled on foot before walking into a business on North Monroe Street to raise the alarm.
Maclin-Carney was caught and taken into custody. She remains at the Macon County jail.
She also faces additional charges of aggravated battery, mob action and criminal damage in a separate incident after police say she used a BB gun to shoot out the windows and glass door of a home in the 1300 block of North Walnut Grove on the night of March 20.
The floor store owner’s wife had alerted the police out of fear.
