Rihanna isn’t the only one facing backlash for bringing sexy back, apparently Bootylicious Beyoncé has been banned for her curves.
In 2007, Beyoncé was scheduled to perform in Malaysia, but due to inappropriate outfit concerns orders placed a ban on her appearance, she had to cancel her performance in the country. According to a BBC report, “Female performers at Malaysian concerts are required by government rules to cover up from the shoulders to knees, with no cleavage showing.” Since Beyoncé is known for her confidence and sexy performances, it is understandable for the ban. However, it is surprising that it is such a strict and permanent ban for the well-loved celebrity.
She wasn’t just banned from performing, Malaysia issued a ban on Beyoncé from ever touring, performing, or entering, according to Cosmopolitan.
Beyoncé released B’ Day in 2006. Many of the songs from the album were in celebration of womanhood and empowerment and sexiness.
For example, Get Me Bodied, in which her lyrics say, “Mission one; I’ma put this on
When he see me in the dress, I’ma get me some.” Indicating the power of sexiness, yet showing confidence. Could you imagine Beyoncé singing that song in an Ivy Park jogging suit, maybe, but maybe not. We want to see the freakum dress with those lyrics.
Unfortunately, Bey couldn’t dress the part to satisfy the Malaysian culture … But hard pass. We are ok with using all the Bey time in the states.
