Blue Ivy Carter Nominated For Her First BET Award At Age 8

Blue Ivy Carter has been nominated for her first BET Award at the age of 8. The 8 year old mogul was nominated for being featured on Beyoncé’s “Brown Skin Girl,” alongside Wizkid, and SAINt JHN. The song originally appeared on The Lion King: The Gift soundtrack in 2019.

“Brown Skin Girl” is nominated for the BET Her Award, which recognizes neo soul and traditional R&B artists. She joins a list of major songs and artist such as, “Underdog” by Alicia Keys; “Melanin” by Ciara featuring Lupita Nyong’o, Ester Dean, City Girls and LaLa; “I Choose” by Layton Greene; “Tempo” by Lizzo featuring Missy Elliott; and “Afeni” by Rapsody featuring PJ Morton. Beyoncé is also nominated in three other categories—Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, Album of the Year for Homecoming: The Live Album, and Best Movie for Homecoming.

Blue Ivy Carter has been quickly building her way through the music industry as she won an NAACP Image Award for “Brown Skin Girl,” in February. The song also charted on the Billboard Hot 100. Blue Ivy Carter also won a song-writing trophy for the same track at the BET Soul Train Awards.

A few years ago Jay Z doted about Blue Ivy Carter showing early signs of being a genius, and from the looks of it his musical genius prediction was correct. Beyonce confirmed Blue’s wit, as she doted about how Blue was reading flash cards at 13 months. Beyonce also called Blue Ivy Carter “fire” during the interview, and said she knows she’ll have her hands full when her first-born grows up. Blue is only 8 years old and has accomplished more than many in a lifetime. We can’t wait to see what she will do next.
