Chicago forecast shows comfortable Saturday ahead of cooler Mother’s Day – NBC Chicago

The weekend begins on a comfortable note with warm conditions, readings climbing into the 70s and some breezy weather ahead of a cooler Mother’s Day.

Saturday morning started with mostly cloudy skies, temperatures in the mid-50s and southwesterly winds at around 12 miles an hour, which were expected to give readings a slight boost, according to NBC 5 Storm Team Meteorologist Pete Sack.

Clouds over the region began to move out, however, some additional clouds lingered to the north and west – and were joined by rain. As that front approached, rain began to break up and was expected to continue that process through the rest of the morning.

Afterward, a sprinkle or very light rain shower are possible in the early afternoon.

The National Weather Service warns that warm and breezy conditions could lead to an elevated threat of fire spread.

By around 6 p.m., any rain activity is expected to be finished.

Overall, temperatures will likely top out in the low-to-mid 70s, Sack said.

Winds will start out of the southwest before shifting to the northwest at 12 to 22 miles an hour, setting the stage for some cooler air this evening. Temperatures will begin to drop as conditions remain quiet.

Overnight into Sunday morning, overnight lows will likely bottom out in the mid-40s, Sack said.

Mother’s Day appears to be pleasant, with a northwesterly breeze delivering slightly cooler temperatures. Highs in the mid-60s are expected under partly cloudy skies, Sack said.

The evening appears to be quiet, with no concerns about rain.

A stretch of temperature swings is expected in the following days.

Overnight Sunday into Monday morning, conditions will start on the cooler side, with temperatures sitting in the upper 30s to around 40 degrees. Despite plenty of sunshine coming our way, it likely won’t warm up much.

Breezes off the lake and out of the north will bring readings in the upper 50s under mostly sunny skies.

A chance of storms arrives on Tuesday, along with highs in the low 70s.

While one model suggests some moisture on Wednesday, Sack said he thinks the day will remain dry, with temperatures becoming slightly cooler and temperatures in the low-to-mid 60s.

    Then, temperatures begin a rebound.

On Thursday, highs will likely reach the mid-to-upper 60s, followed by values in the mid-to-upper 70s on Friday, along with a chance for rain late. Looking ahead to next weekend, a chance for storms arrives Saturday with highs reaching the 80-degree-mark on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
