Long lines of coffee hungry people on foot and in their cars queued up for the grand opening of the first Dutch Bros Coffee location in the Chicago area on Thursday.
The popular West Coast drive-thru java chain opened at 1931 N. Mannheim Rd. in Melrose Park, drawing flocks of people to the area.
Though Dutch Bros already had operations in Illinois in Urbana, Fairview Heights, Mt. Vernon and Edwardsville, the Melrose Park opening is the first of many slated for the Chicago area.
“Opening in the Chicago area has always been a dream for us at Dutch Bros, and Melrose Park is just the beginning,” Allie Lahti, Local Market Lead at Dutch Bros Coffee said in a release. “We’ve already felt so much love from this community, and we’re so grateful to be here. Our crew is stoked to bring the energy and start serving our customizable drinks in Melrose Park!”
Here’s a look at the many Dutch Bros Coffee locations opening near the Windy City.
Buffalo Grove
Dutch Bros is expected to take over the former Burger King location as a part of a re-development of the former Buffalo Grove Town Center, located at 202 McHenry Rd. The location is expected to open this summer, according to Dutch Bros.
Rockford
Dutch Bros will also open a location in Rockford this summer at 7103 E. State St., the company said.
New Lenox
The New Lenox Dutch Bros location, also slated to open in the summer, will be at 550 W. Maple St.
Elk Grove Village
Dutch Bros will open in Elk Grove Village as a part of a new major development at the corner of Meacham and Biesterfield roads that includes a two-sheet ice arena and a Culvers, according to Major Craig B. Johnson. The Elk Grove Village location is slated to open in the fall.
Oak Park
After the Village of Oak Park unanimously approved plans for a Dutch Bros location in the suburb last October, the java chain is expected to open in the area at 316 Madison St. this fall.
Proposed locations
Dutch Bros is in the process of getting approval to open locations in Darien, at 2201 75th St., and in Algonquin at 541 S. Randall Road.
A Naperville location was proposed in August 2025, though progress on that development has since stalled.
