
Chicago police are investigating a shooting in the city’s East Side neighborhood that killed one woman and left a second with injuries, authorities said.
The shooting was reported at approximately 1:10 a.m. on Saturday along South Avenue J near East 102nd Street. Chicago police said two women were standing with a crowd in a parking lot when a blue vehicle drove by and someone fired into the crowd multiple times.
A 29-year-old woman was shot in the chest and taken to an area hospital, where she later died. A second victim, a 37-year-old woman, was struck in the leg and was hospitalized in good condition.
No arrests had been made as of Saturday morning.
An investigation remained underway.
