An investigation was underway after flames ripped through an apartment building in west suburban Glendale Heights on Sunday afternoon.
Flames broke out in a third-floor unit at the Ellyn Crossing Apartments near Glen Ellyn Road, video shared with NBC Chicago revealed. Footage captured by a witness showed both flames and smoke pouring out of the roof.
Fire officials said the fire started on the balcony — and then continued to the roof. According to the Bloomingdale Fire Department, the fire “progressed rapidly” and ultimately spread throughout the attic.
Authorities said damage was largely confined to the attic.
No injuries were reported.
