Air travel at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport is being disrupted by thunderstorms moving through the area Thursday.
According to an update from the FAA, a ground stop was ordered at approximately 4:15 p.m., holding all flights inbound to O’Hare at their departing airports.
That ground stop was scheduled to run through at least 5:15 p.m., but there is a possibility it could be extended, FAA officials warn.
Forecast models had called for scattered showers and a few thunderstorms across the Chicago area on Thursday, with some wind gusts associated with any showers and storms that developed.
Friday the main rain threat will likely exist south of the city of Chicago, and temperatures are expected to be a bit warmer, with highs in the mid-to-upper 60s, according to forecast models.
