Police in a northwest suburb of Chicago are warning residents to expect an increase in plain-clothed officers doing foot patrols starting on Friday.
Hanover Park Police and surrounding agencies will be increasing foot patrols as part of a “multijurisdictional approach to combat current crime trends that impact our communities such as drug/gang problems, street takeovers, business burglaries (etc.),” HPPD said in a post on social media on Thursday.
The officers are likely to be seen wearing plain clothes and vests that clearly indicate they are police while conducting foot patrols in subdivisions and parking lots of apartment or business buildings, police said.
“They are not federal agents associated with any federal government,” police said in the post.
