An African-American movie icon, actress Cicely Tyson, has died.
The Emmy- and Tony-winning actress was aged 96.
She had during her glittering career distinguished herself both in theater and television.
Her manager, Larry Thompson, announced her death in a statement on Thursday, January 28, 2021
According to Thompson, “I have managed Miss Tyson’s career for over 40 years, and each year was a privilege and blessing.”
“Cicely thought of her new memoir as a Christmas tree decorated with all the ornaments of her personal and professional life. Today she placed the last ornament, a Star, on top of the tree,” the statement added.
Aside acting, Tyson was a fashion model. Her career in acting and modeling spanned over seven decades.
She well known for her portrayal of strong African-American women. She was born on December 19, 1924, in Harlem, New York, United States. She won Academy Honorary Award.
