It’s going to feel a lot like summer in coming days, with hotter temperatures accompanying chances for thunderstorms and rising dewpoints.
Sunday will start out with some hazy sunshine in the Chicago area, and conditions are expected to be humid and warm, with highs in the low-80s according to the NBC 5 Storm Team.
As the day moves along, the area could see chances of scattered showers and thunderstorms, and that rain could persist into the day on Monday, according to forecast models.
The storms aren’t expected to be severe according to the Storm Prediction Center, but gusty winds and heavy rain could still occur.
Temperatures will continue their upward trend on Monday as highs rise into the low-to-mid 80s, and a chance of scattered showers and storms will remain in the forecast.
Heat indices are expected to soar into the middle stages of the week, with highs rising into the 90s and dewpoints expected to reach into the 70s. That could push heat indices into the triple-digits, giving the Chicago area some of its warmest and most oppressive weather of the season so far.
Thursday will again see temperatures in the 90s and elevated dewpoints, and there will also be chances of scattered showers and thunderstorms, according to forecast models.
Friday will see temperatures slowly starting to dip, along with clearing skies and plenty of sunshine, though temperatures are still expected to be in the mid-80s into the weekend.
