Joliet police are seeking information on a suspect who allegedly tried to install a skimming device in view of a cashier at a grocery store.
According to police, the incident occurred Saturday at the El Ranchito Supermarket, located at 562 East Cass Street.
It is alleged the suspect attempted to install a skimming device, a piece of technology that can capture a victim’s credit card number or PIN, on a credit card reader at the store.
The suspect then attempted to pay for a transaction, but was confronted by a cashier. It was at that point the suspect fled the store, police said.
Authorities have released a photo of the suspect and are seeking information on his whereabouts. A skimming device was recovered from the store.
