Liverpool Title Defence In Limbo After Embarrassing Defeat To Man City (watch highlights)

Reigning English Premier League champions, Liverpool have suffered an embarrassing home defeat to their rival, Manchester City.

The champions were defeated 4-1 at Anfield on Sunday, February 7, 2021, Gundogan’s brace, Raheem Sterling’s 76th minute goal and Phil Foden’s 83rd minute effort. Mohammed Salah scored Liverpool’s consolation goal from the spot in the 63rd minute.

The result was a big boost for Man City’s title ràce, as they move five points clear off second-place Manchester United and 10 points clear off Liverpool.

Liverpool’s title defence is now visibly in limbo as the 2020/2021 gradually draws closer to its end.

This is the second strict defeat for Liverpool at Anfield. They lost 1-0 to underdogs, Brighton a few days ago at Anfield and were desperately looking to overturn that result with a possible win over Man City, but that became elusive.
