Where else but Chicago would Jeppson’s Malört attempt to set a world record for largest group of people to simultaneously take a shot of the spirit?
The world record attempt set for this summer is part of a fundraising event that benefits Ravenswood Community Services, an organization that provides meals and groceries to people in need in Uptown and Ravenswood.
“Join us in setting the world record for ‘The Largest Mass of People Taking a Shot of Malört at the Same Time.’ Thousands of people, one night. Come to Chicago, raise a glass, and make a BAD DECISION FOR A GOOD CAUSE,” the event website says.
The event starts at 5 p.m. on August 30 and continues through 9 p.m. at Recess, located at 838 W. Kinzie St. in Chicago’s West Town neighborhood. Those looking to be a part of the world record should be sure to be there at 7:30 p.m. when the attempt is set to be made.
Tickets cost $12 including fees and ensure your entry and one shot of Malört for the record attempt. You can also purchase a non-participant ticket to watch the attempt, though only 200 are offered due to venue capacity.
For every ticket sold Jeppson’s Malört will match $10 to Ravenswood Community Services through its Charitable Giving Initiative.
Only those 21-years-old and above are allowed to attend the event.
