Video captured the rescue of a man who was trapped underneath the rubble of what was once a home in Streator, Illinois, after the area was hit by a tornado on Thursday.
A confirmed, large tornado hit the Streator, Illinois, area around 5:50 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
Damage to structures was reported on the south side of Streator according to NWS and Illinois State Police.
The rescue occurred after a man was found trapped in a pile of debris, video provided to NBC Chicago by a local photographer showed. He said he believed his leg may have been broken.

A good Samaritan at the scene said she tried to help the man get out of the rubble by moving some of it around but was unsuccessful.
What appeared to be a large slab of wood had trapped the man. The photographer jumped into action to help lift the wooden slab as two police officers walked up to the scene.
The man was visibly in pain as the two police officers quickly worked to move the debris around him.
“We got a door over back we can put him on,” one officer could be heard saying.
The two officers successfully freed the man and helped lift him from the debris, video showed.

A tornado was also confirmed to be on the ground near Dwight, Illinois, just after 6:15 p.m., NWS said, and another brief tornado touchdown occurred earlier in the day in Kenosha County in Wisconsin, though there weren’t immediate reports of damage.
NWS also said a “large, damaging” tornado roared through parts of northwest Indiana.
The tornado first impacted areas around Merrillville and Hobart when it touched down just after 7 p.m., NWS said.
