A Chicago collectible store owner is devastated after more than $100,000 in merchandise from his business on Monday.
Ronnie Holloway, the owner of Elite Sports Cards and Comics in the Dunning neighborhood, said the two thieves smashed through the front window of his business on Monday morning and immediately went to work stealing Pokemon cards and various sports collectibles.
According to Chicago police, the suspects then fled the scene in a vehicle and fled the scene.
Holloway said in total the burglars got away with more than $100,000 in merchandise.
Surveillance footage showed at least two individuals breaking into the store, jumping over counters and rummaging through merchandise.
Holloway believes the thieves had been in the store recently, as they moved methodically around the store, seemingly knowing where the best merchandise was located.
Now, he’s left with more questions than answers, and unsure of how he will proceed forward.
“It hurts,” he said. “I’m trying to figure out how I’m going to recover. I don’t want to close the shop down.”
Area Five detectives are investigating, and no arrests have been made.
