Editor’s note: The Chicago Bears selected Iowa center Logan Jones as the No. 57 overall pick in the NFL Draft, meaning he’ll receive a partnership with Heinz and a lifetime supply of ketchup.
A second-round pick in the NFL Draft will learn where he’s headed on Friday and receive a one-of-a-kind gift, one rooted in tradition and likely to leave him scratching his head over what to do with it.
The 57th overall pick will receive a lifetime supply of Heinz Ketchup and the opportunity to partner with the iconic brand. The Bears happen to have the pick, and Heinz’s parent company, The Kraft Heinz Company, operates co‑headquarters in Chicago.
The well-known “Heinz 57” slogan has been associated with the company for well over a century.
The trademark was introduced by founder by H.J. Heinz in 1896 as a branding tool to emphasize product variety, despite the company producing well over 57 items at the time. The “57” has since appeared on Heinz bottles and remains a defining part of the brand in present day.
Friday’s lucky 57th pick will be welcomed into the “Mr. 57 Club” by Chicago Bears legend Devin Hester, who has been affectionately dubbed “Mr. 57.” He was selected with the 57th pick of the the NFL draft in 2006, 20 years ago. According to the news release, Hester will be present at the draft, donning a custom red “Mr. 57” jacket and sharing a message with the incoming pick.
Fans can also take part.
As the moment unfolds Friday night, fans can receive $25 off orders from Heniz Verified restaurants on Uber Eats. A list of participating restaurants can be found here.
This campaign marks marks the first chapter of a “newly-minted” partnership between the NFL and Kraft Heinz.
