A 9-year-old video of Randeep Hooda telling an offensive and embarrassing joke to a crowd about former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Mayawati resurfaced on the internet. The joke did not go down well with the netizens who started to call him out for his insensitive action and demanded an apology.
A user also tweeted to Richa Chadha, Taapsee Pannu, Swara Bhasker and Konkona Sensharma to comment on this and wrote, “Where are all the ‘feminist’ actors? Will they speak against Randeep Hooda or stand and applaud for their brother? We are watching…” Replying to this Richa tweeted, “It’s a despicable joke”. It’s crass, tasteless and sexist.”
But that’s not all. Richa also called out the user for only demanding the female actors to speak up in this matter and wrote. “Yes. It’s casteist too. Also, plz explain to the reason why you continue to ask ONLY women to apologise for their male colleagues while you pontificate on sexism. Not holding my breath.”
