
Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani was hospitalized in “critical condition” on Sunday, according to his spokesperson and President Donald Trump, writing on social media.
“Our fabulous Rudy Giuliani, a True Warrior, and the Best Mayor in the History of New York City, BY FAR, has been hospitalized, and is in critical condition,” Trump wrote in part on his Truth Social account.
“Mayor Giuliani is a fighter who has faced every challenge in his life with unwavering strength, and he’s fighting with that same level of strength as we speak,” spokeperson Ted Goodman wrote on X.
Giuliani, 81, who became mayor after serving as U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, was lionized for his response to the September 11th terrorist attacks in Lower Manhattan. But he was disbarred in New York in 2024 after spreading lies surrounding Donald Trump and the 2020 election.
“We do ask that you join us in prayer for America’s Mayor Rudy Giuliani,” Goodman wrote in the Sunday posting. He did not indicate what health matters Giuliani is facing.
Giuliani was injured in a car crash in New Hampshire last year.
Giuliani served as mayor from 1994 through 2001.
It was not immediately clear which hospital Giuliani is being treated at.
