A public health alert has been issued for popular snacks and frozen meals sold at grocery stores nationwide after officials said the ingredients may be contaminated with Salmonella, a potentially dangerous foodborne illness that can cause fever, diarrhea or even lead to hospitalization.
The alert, issued April 30 by the U.S Department of Agriculture’s Food and Safety Inspection Service, identifies eight products that have been recalled, though more could be announced. According to officials, the health alert as issued after a dry milk powder used in the products was also recalled.
The recalled products range from frozen pizzas to pork rinds, with some of the products sold under Walmart’s Great Value brand.

Frozen Breakfast Pizzas:
- 18.5 ounce Mama Cozzi’s Biscuit Crust Sausage & Cheese Frozen Breakfast Pizza; sold nationwide
- 17.15 ounce Mama Cozzi’s Biscuit Crust Cooked Pork Belly Crumbles, Cooked Bacon Topping, Pepper & Onion Frozen Breakfast Pizza; sold nationwide
Pork Rinds:
- 1.75 ounce bags of Pork King Good Sour Cream & Onion Pork Rinds, old nationwide
- 7 ounce bags of Pork King Party Size Sour Cream & Onion Pork Rinds, sold nationwide
Frozen Pizzas:
- 16.4 ounce Culinary Circle Ultra Thin Crust Chicken Bacon Ranch Frozen Pizza, sold in Minnesota, Pennsylvania, California, Virginia, Washington, Illinois, Alabama, Mississippi, Florida
- Great Value Thin Crust Chicken Bacon Ranch Frozen Pizza; sold nationwide
- Great Value Stuffed Chicken Bacon Ranch Frozen Pizza; sold nationwide

While there have been no reports of injuries or adverse health effects, officials are concerned the products could be in consumers’ or grocery stores’ freezers, refrigerators or pantries. Anyone who purchased the products are urged to throw them away or return them for a refund.
Symptoms of the salmonellosis bacteria can show up within six days, and include diarrhea, abdominal cramps and fever, with the illness typically lasting between four and seven days. Older adults, infants, and persons with weakened immune systems are more likely to develop severe illness, officials said.
