With Memorial Day just a few weeks away, many travelers are already looking ahead to the summer.
And as the warmer months approach, the Transportation Security Administration is offering a limited-time PreCheck discount aimed at younger travelers.
Beginning Friday through May 31st, travelers between 18 and 30 years old can receive an automatic $20 discount, lowering the price to anywhere between $56.75 and $65 for a five-year membership, with prices depending on the enrollment provider.
The discounted prices are as follows:
- CLEAR – $59.95
- IDEMIA – $56.75
- Telos – $65
Travelers must be 30 years old or younger at the time of enrollment and must meet TSA PreCheck eligibility requirements, which can be found here.
Enrollment can be completed in person, but to enter the Touchless ID program, travelers must first opt in online.
“It’s available at all major airports across the country, including in Chicago,” said Denyse Wells, TSA program analyst for policy and oversight. “And so if you have opted in, you can go through one of the TSA pre-checked touchless ID lanes and walk through to screening in a matter of seconds without having to take out your ID.”
To receive the $20 discount, enrollment must be completed by May 31.
What about children?
Most children don’t need to enroll in TSA PreCheck.
While minors are eligible for the discount, children 17 years old and under are typically free and don’t need to apply unless they regularly travel alone.
