The United States’ men’s and women’s hockey teams are both still aiming for Olympic glory this week, and medals will be on the line for both teams.
The women’s team has romped through the tournament in emphatic fashion, outscoring their opponents 31-1 as they coasted into the final.
As for the men, their road has been slightly bumpier, with three group play victories and then a 2-1 overtime victory over Sweden in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.

U.S. Women’s Hockey
One final step remains for the United States as they look to win their third gold medal in women’s hockey, but their biggest rival stands in their way.
The Illinois native in her forth Olympics scored in the second period with assists from Leila Edwards and Megan Keller. U.S. beat Sweden 5-0 and advanced to Thursday’s final.
Canada has beaten the United States for gold medals four times in Olympic competition, and even though the American squad beat them 5-0 in group play, there are no givens when facing the reigning gold medalists.
That gold medal game will be played on Thursday in Milan, with puck drop set for 12:10 p.m. The game will air on USA Network, and will stream in the player below.
U.S. Men’s Hockey
The United States has punched their ticket into the medal round with four consecutive victories, including Wednesday’s thrilling 2-1 win over Sweden that saw Quinn Hughes rifle home a shot in overtime to win the game.
Now the United States will face a Slovakia team absolutely loaded with talent, including Juraj Slafkovsky who has three goals and four assists. Dalibor Dvorsky has three goals for the Slovak squad, and goaltender Samuel Hlavaj has two wins and a 2.67 goals against average.
Connor Hellebuyck stopped 28 of 29 shots to help USA defeat Sweden 2-1 in Olympic quarterfinals win.
Team USA’s goaltending has been world class in the Olympics, with Connor Hellebuyck registering three wins, a 0.98 goals against average and a .958 save percentage to lead all Olympic goaltenders in those categories.
Not to be outdone, Auston Matthews has been pacing the team’s scoring, as he’s registered three goals for the American squad.

The bronze medal game will take place on Saturday in Italy, while the gold medal game will be played Sunday at 7:10 a.m.
If the U.S. wins, they would play the winner of Friday’s game between Canada and Finland.
