Reality star Darrell Sheets, known for his role as “the gambler” in the popular competition show “Storage Wars,” has died at age 67, according to local authorities.
Sheets was found dead in the early hours of April 22, 2026, at a residence in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, the local police department shared in a statement. The cause of death “appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head,” the statement said. Sheets was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident is currently under investigation by the Lake Havasu City Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit and the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s office, authorities said. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Lake Havasu City Police Department at 928-855-1171.
“Storage Wars” follows professional buyers, like Sheets, as they bid on the contents of storage lockers that haven’t been paid for in several months.
A spokesperson for A&E, the network that airs the show, told People in a statement: “We are saddened by the passing of a beloved member of our Storage Wars family, Darrell ‘The Gambler’ Sheets. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”
Sheets had been participating in storage auctions for over 30 years, according to A&E. Variety reported that he’d appeared in 163 episodes of the show between 2010 and 2023. After having a heart attack in 2019, he was living in Arizona and operating an antique store named Havasu Show Me Your Junk, according to the outlet.
On the show, Sheets was known for his “big game” and his low-volume, high-value strategy. Over the years, he’d bid on and won four Picassos and the world’s most profitable comic book collection, per A&E. He was interested in teaching his son, Brandon, about the business of storage auctions.
