An American Airlines flight was forced to return to Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport Tuesday after the crew reported an issue with the plane’s engine.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration, American Airlines Flight 2952 “returned safely to Chicago” around 12:40 p.m. “after the crew reported an engine issue.”
American Airlines said the flight “landed safely and taxied to the gate under its own power.”
The flight was scheduled to travel from Chicago to Boston’s Logan International Airport.
“The aircraft was taken out of service to be inspected by our maintenance team. Customers will board a new aircraft to BOS shortly. We never want to disrupt our customers’ travel plans and we apologize for the inconvenience,” the airline said in a statement.
The FAA said the incident is under investigation.
