Caleb Williams might be the “Iceman,” but he just revealed a “hot take” on Chicago-style pizza.
Dishing with the Kelce brothers on their “New Heights” podcast, the Chicago Bears quarterback revealed where he says he had the “best pizza I’ve ever had in my life” in Chicago — and it’s not deep dish.
“I actually, and I don’t know if this is like an iconic thing or whatever, but I just had a Chicago tavern-style pizza. Honestly, the best pizza I’ve ever had in my life,” Williams said.
When asked the name of the restaurant he dined at, Williams said he got his slice from Zarella Pizzeria & Taverna in downtown Chicago.
“It’s insane. It’s it’s actually insane,” he told Travis and Jason Kelce.
Zarella responded by posting a clip of the podcast moment with the caption, “Game respects game.”
“@ayeeecaleb, thanks for the shoutout on @newheightshow. Our door’s always open!” the restaurant wrote.
The foodie question was asked by Jason Kelce, who has been known to visit and promot a number of Chicago eateries.
He went on in the interview to recommend Roseland’s Mr. B’s Old Fashioned Donuts.
It’s not the first time Kelce has mentioned the Chicago doughnut shop, having worn a shirt repping the store on live television last season.
“Mr. B made the best Apple Fritter I’ve ever had, and I don’t even like Apple Fritters,” Kelce said on X at the time. “Old Fashioned Donuts in Chicago is an absolute gem. He opened the place in 1972, hasn’t had an off day since. Turns 87 on Oct, 5th. The workers, the food, it was all just a fantastic.”
Williams’ appearance on the show followed the news that he was chosen as the cover athlete for Madden 27, solidifying himself in Bears history.
