African Entertainment has seen videos and pictures on social media, showing two Zambian electorates wearing graduation and dressing gowns to polling stations where they were expected to cast their ballots.
Social media and mainstream media reports say one of the two men, Chimwemwe Chuwa, was in hurry to the extent that he did not realize he was wearing his dressing gown.
Chuwa is reported to have said that by the time he realised it was time to vote, it was too late so he had to do everything possible to beat the long queues and as a result he had to go in his dressing gown and slippers.

On his part, Charles Masompe, wore his graduation gown to his polling station and shared a video of himself on social media in which he was seen being cheered by other voters.
Thank you UNZA for the welcome of my grand arrival. Thank you for not allowing me to queue. I know most of you have been here as early as midnight but you still had to let me in and cast my vote. Thank you, one love. #ZambiaDecides2021 pic.twitter.com/4Z61grJvKG

As reported by African Entertainment yesterday, Zambia is holding its general elections on today, August 12, 2021.
The country’s electoral commission has assured that the elections will be free, transparent and fair.
According to the Commission, it has put in place systems to ensure that the elections were free, transparent and fair.
But opposition parties in Zambia have alleged that the Electoral Commission has not followed laid down procedures that will make the voters roll open to an independent audit.
However, Chairperson of Zambia’s Electoral Commission, Patrick Nshindano, has told the nation that his outfit would not manipulate election results.
He assured that Zambians would know who their next president would be 72 hours after the closure of polling stations.
This year’s election is projected to a close race between President Edgar Lungu and Hakainde Hichilema from the United Party for National Development. In all, 14 other candidates are contesting.
