Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams is hoping to take another big step forward in his career, and he made sure to bring some of his teammates along for the ride.
Williams spoke to media at Halas Hall Monday as the Bears began offseason workouts at the facility, and he said some of his teammates came out to Los Angeles this offseason to work with him ahead of a critical 2026 campaign.
The Los Angeles group included wide receivers Rome Odunze, Luther Burden and Jahdae Walker, as well as tight end Colston Loveland, Williams said.
Williams said the camaraderie the group has already formed has been hugely beneficial, and he said the team having a “young core” of stars is a unique opportunity.
“Having a young core is fun.Because you get to have that aspect of growing together and growing your bond and how tight knit you are, that will grow too,” he said. “I was just with them in California, at my old school, just working out, laughing, joking, going to dinner, having them over at the house. Those moments, it’s not fake, we’re all hanging out, we’re all enjoying and we’re all laughing. Then when we get on the football field it’s time to work.”
The quarterback said he hopes the group is “together for a long time,” and he was asked about several of his teammates, including Burden.
“His growth from when he got here, until the end of the season, was enjoyable to watch,” he said. “It was motivating to watch, and it was exciting to watch. We know who Luther is, we know he’s a competitor. We know when he gets the ball in his hands, he’s a problem child, as he says. Being able to grow this year with him knowing some of the offense, things like that, and being able to get on the same page more and more. It’s going to be fun.”
