The Chicago area forecast Tuesday will be warm and breezy, but temperatures in the 70s and 80s won’t last long as a cold front moving it will bring them dropping into 50s midweek.
Ahead of the cold front, light, spotty showers could form “here and there,” NBC 5 Storm Team Meteorologist Alicia Roman said, in the morning and into the afternoon. By about 3 p.m., temperatures will begin to drop, Roman said, and strong or even severe storms could develop in some parts.
According to the Storm Prediction Center, the greatest risk for severe storms has shifted further south and east. Still, Newton and Jasper Counties in Indiana will be at a “marginal” risk of severe weather, which ranks as level one of five.
“Maybe a gusty storm there, perhaps some hail, winds up to 60 mph,” Roman said.
By about 8 p.m., temperatures will have dropped from the 70s and 80s into the low 60s, Roman said. Wednesday’s high was 59 degrees, increasing slightly to 62 degrees Thursday and 64 degrees Friday.
