One of the largest school districts in Illinois is mourning the unexpected loss of one of its leaders.
District 211 said Monday it was “saddened” by the passing of Monte Holt, an assistant principal at Conant High School in Hoffman Estates.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time,” the district said in a statement. “Mr. Holt was a dedicated educator and compassionate leader who built meaningful relationships with students, families, and colleagues. He will be remembered for his unwavering support of student success and the positive impact he made on the Conant community.”
Few details have been released on his passing, but an obituary for Holt said he was “taken from us unexpectedly” Saturday morning.
“Monte was a beloved and dedicated educator at James B. Conant High School, whose staff and student body he considered family. He poured his heart into every student, believing deeply in their potential and going above and beyond to ensure they felt seen, supported and inspired,” the obituary read. “He celebrated their accomplishments and loved seeing them succeed.”
District 211 said “this loss is difficult for students, staff, and families.”
“Grief support and counseling will be ongoing at Conant High School. We ask that the community respect the family’s privacy as we honor Mr. Holt’s life and legacy,” the statement read.
