The Chicago area is going to see some big changes to its forecast in coming days, though there may be one more chance of storms in coming days.
After severe weather tore through the area on Wednesday and Thursday, things will be quite a bit calmer on Friday, but there is one more chance of strong-to-severe thunderstorms on Saturday before a significant change in the weather pattern for the Chicago area next week.
Dewpoints plummeted behind a passing cold front that brought severe thunderstorms to the Chicago area on Thursday, and as a result things will be significantly more comfortable on Friday, with highs right around 80 degrees and partly-to-mostly sunny skies expected across the region, according to the NBC 5 Storm Team.
Saturday will be slightly muggier and warmer, with highs in the mid-80s, but there is one more small chance of severe weather area residents may have to contend with.
According to the Storm Prediction Center, the entire Chicago area will be at a “marginal” risk of severe weather late Saturday night, with showers and thunderstorms potentially persisting into early Sunday morning, forecast models suggest.
Once those storms clear out, things are expected to not only quiet down, but they will also cool down, with pleasant conditions expected for several days as the official start of summer approaches on June 21.
According to the NBC 5 Storm Team, temperatures will only be in the low-70s for highs on Sunday, and things will slowly warm up during the week, though highs are still expected to remain in the 70s through at least Thursday, giving residents a welcome respite from the heat and humidity of the last several days.
There is a small chance of showers on Tuesday, but there is no significant thunderstorm threat beyond Saturday for the rest of the extended forecast, giving residents some peace and quiet after a few tumultuous evenings.
